Weeknote 157

Return to work, Nordic cafe find, Estate agents

  • I was in a fit enough state to return to work last week after my surgery and that nasty cold bug. I came back to a barrage of emails about the dreaded transition from Google to Microsoft for our email, office suite and chat tool.
  • Friday’s checkup at the dentist was better than expected, with the good news that I don’t need to go again for nine months because I’m doing so well cleaning my teeth — partly thanks to my Oral‑B iO brush helping me brush more thoroughly without over‑pressuring my gums.
  • Enjoyed a delicious Korean meal with Mena after a very long wait because the kitchen was exceptionally busy at Babsang in Newington Green.
  • On Saturday, I indulged an impulse craving for Scandinavian pastries and tried a Nordic café in nearby Putney. It was busy, but I luckily nabbed a window ledge to enjoy my cardamom bun and coffee.
  • We finally got round to watching Hamnet at the weekend. It was incredibly emotional and touching, what a great, memorable film.
  • I dipped my feet back into property‑selling last week, gathering quotes from estate agents and even initiating the sale process with one — which I quickly reversed out of once I realised how unfair and expensive their seller‑leaning process was.
  • On Sunday, I chilled out from all the stress with a gentle walk along the Thames from Barnes to Kew, and enjoyed some takeaway Argentine empanadas from De Nadas Empanadas in Kew.
