Weeknote 156

Recovery

  • Last week’s note about my operation drew far more attention than expected, and I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who sent kind messages. Sorry if it caused alarm.
  • Recovery has continued steadily. Sadly, my immune system being naturally somewhat weaker following the opp left me battling a fairly unpleasant cold last week. It’s finally passed, but it did mean a few more days away off from work.
  • I’ve happily returned to watching MasterChef now that Wallace and Torode have been shown the door. The first batch of professional chefs is refreshingly diverse and tweaked format already more engaging.
  • With extra time to rest at home, I managed to rebuild several months of lost recreational work from last year, this time on a slightly larger UK map in Transport Fever, with all the major railway routes now laid in.
  • Saturday marked my first proper outing since the operation, and the weather was cooperating with a rare burst of sunshine between days of relentless rain. We went to one of our favourite authentic Italian spots in Islington, Trevi Ristorante, for fresh pasta and a very welcome change of scenery.
  • Bagheera is still very much in residence at the apartment, happy by all the extra time I’ve been home recovering. She’s also been quite vocal about maintaining her strict routines with wake‑up calls, play sessions, and bedtime all enforced.
