Weeknote 153

Back home

  • It was the final week of my month‑long trip. We returned to Santiago and spent a few relaxed days back in Providencia, with plenty of good food options nearby. My favourite Chilean sushi, the best tres leches cake from a local bakery, and a great French restaurant called Baco.
  • We returned once again to one of my favourite Chilean restaurants, Peumayén for lunch and enjoyed its unique atmosphere and amazing food for exceptional value compared to back home.
  • Before flying home, I stocked up on Chilean favourites at the supermarket, including breads and Ramitas potato chips.
  • The journey back to London was a long but direct British Airways flight. I’d booked early enough to get a decent deal on Premium Economy, which offered a bit more space and comfort, though I still didn’t manage much sleep. Ever since flying with EVA Air to Thailand seven years ago, my expectations for long‑haul economy have been pretty high, and BA and Iberia still don’t come close.
  • Once home for the weekend I was greeted warmly by Bagheera the cat. The weather has been a stark contrast to Chile, cooler, greyer, but already starting to feel a touch more spring‑like compared to recent weeks across Europe.
